FRIENDSHIP YOUTH HOSTEL

THE BASICS:
Our concept is simple: we want to be the
one of the best value for money, the cleanest and the friendliest hostels
on this planet. We want you to come again and to tell your friends to
visit us..so it is in our interest to be the best ...and we just happen to
be friendly anyhow!
THE HOSTEL:
We are centrally located and in the thick
of the Beijing scene- markets, cultural monuments bars/clubs/restaurants
and street life are all on our doorstep. We are based in a brand new
building (with safety regulations approved by Beijing Council) built
around a small courtyard with 20 twin rooms (with television, air
conditioning, towels, etc.) .
None of the rooms are en suite but we have plenty of separate male and
female toilets (clean and with loo paper!) and separate male and female
shower rooms and basins. These are cleaned regularly every day. Basically
we are clean and safe and ask all our guests to treat our hostel like
their home in Beijing. We of course ask our guests to respect the quiet
and cool atmosphere of the place and to allow everybody to get to sleep
and chill out in the day.

LOCATION:
We are in a quiet residential neighbourhood
just off the busy and popular bar street. We are centrally located for all
the best of Beijing, ideal for night life. The tube is 30 minutes walk but
the best advice is to become a local and grab a bicycle.

The best way to find us is to print out the map and take this with
you...we are 200 metres to the west of the bar street and not so easy to
find- the best places never are. The Friendship Youth hostel is a red
coloured, four storey modern building and we do have our sign clearly
written on the hotel so when you are near you should spot us.
From the airport or train get to DONGZHIMEN OUNDABOUT: From the airport you can catch the airport bus for 18rmb (tickets available in the arrival lounge or by the bus). They leave every 30 minutes and have various stops on the way. You will want to be dropped off at DONGZHIMEN (about the second or third stop). If you are coming from Beijing Central Station (or West station) then get on the tube (2 rmba ticket)and go to DONGZHIMEN STATION and take one of the east exits.
From Dongzhimen walk east (parallel with the big three lane carriageway Donzhimenwai Dajie) , cross two intersections (all with traffic lights) and take the third intersections right (south) down San Li Tun (Bar street). The walk will take you about 30 minutes. After five minutes you will see a sign for the Cross Bar, turn right (west) on that narrow street for 100 metres, take the first left and in 20 metres at the next little junction turn right and you will see the red buillding with Friendship Youth Hostel in white letters.
You could also take a local taxi from Dongzhimen for around 10rmb to the hotel (have our address in Chinese).
OUR SERVICES TO YOU:
- We have internet at 10 rmb per
hour.
- We have our own bar with seating
inside and in the courtyard from six to midnight. The bar has a pool
table, backgammon, etc. We
will aslo stock all the local ex-pat magazines and 'what's on' guides as
well as information on where to eat and what to eat.
